Purists need not worry, as there will indeed be original colorways mixed in amongst this year’s run of Jordan 2s. This time around the sneaker remains true to both the blocking and the branding (The latter is again split with “Nike” on the back tab and “Jordan” on the bottom). Air Jordan IV – Red/White Sample

It certainly is taking quite a while for another adult colorway of the Air Jordan IV to release, because the upcoming Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’, set to drop on May 12th, would be the first Air Jordan IV since mid-February’s White/Cement release. Perhaps that elongated gap between Retro IVs is because this Red/White sample was scrapped; as stated in the size-tag (the only true piece of information we can use to date a sneaker), this Red/White sample with a unique matte Foamposite-like upper (as described by the owner) was destined for a Spring 2012 release (Jan-Mar), but it appears that Jordan Brand is following last year’s formula of Retro drops by sticking to OGs and one new concept (the aforementioned ‘Cavs’). With these popping up as well as Gentry’s White/Red Laser IV, perhaps 2012 was intended to be a crazier year for Retro releases, but given the current state of sneaker mania and Nike’s complete upheaval of its sneaker release process, maybe it’s better that these stayed inside the factory doors. In 2006, Jordan Brand pair a worthy and impressive tribute to Spike Lee by giving him his own signature sneaker called the Jordan Spiz’ike – a hybrid of all the Air Jordans the Spike’s alter ego of Mars Blackmon chipped in for during their original debuts. We also remember the ‘Mar’s Jordan IV, which featured the OG White/Red/Black colorway with the Mars Blackmon logo on the heel, but Jordan Brand, for this year’s 23rd Anniversary, decided to bring it back sans-Mars (although the spirit of Blackmon will never be forgotten). Air Jordan III – Black – Cement | Release Reminder

It’s time to exhale. The trifecta of Air Jordan IIIs in original colorways from 23 years ago is now complete. Tomorrow will be the official release date of the Air Jordan III ‘Black/Cement’, returning to us once again in the form that Tinker had intended (with the exception of the Jumpman branding on the heel). These were last seen in stores three years ago as part of the Air Jordan 3/20 Collezione Package and also in 2001 (the last time the Black/Cement III featured ‘Nike Air’ on the heel-tab), so if your rotation is missing these certified gems or your pair needs to be replaced, don’t hesitate to cop. It wouldn’t be to far-fetched to say that anyone who calls himself a fan of the Air Jordan MUST have these in their stash. If you don’t think these OG classics aren’t all that, find a new hobby. Is it baseball season already? This Yankees-inspired release of the Air Jordan 1 Phat, destined for a January 2012 release, is a nice reminder of fresh cut grass and tossing the ball around in the open field. And with the NBA lockout being as persistent as ever, we can’t wait for another professional sport to infiltrate our minds. C’mon, we need sports to stress about!
